Busy as a Bee

I need at least 5 extra hours in a day during this Christmas season. Really! I'm sure other moms out there feel the same way. Aside from maintaining the household and paying bills and searching online for cheap auto insurance companies (since the rates here in the state where I live is horrendous!), there are the kids' school and extra-curricular activities too! I'm still not finished with my Christmas shopping. ugh... Breathe.. That's what I need to do right now. I'm sure I'll get everything done sooner or later. Well, I hope it's sooner, don't you?

Making a List and Checking it Twice...

I know, Christmas is a couple of months away and we still have to celebrate Thanksgiving but it is not too early to make a list, right? It seems that the older the kids get, the harder it is to figure out what to give them for special occasions like Christmas. Kids nowadays are into 'techy' stuff. They listen to music on their IPods, play games on their DSi, Wii or XBox. Now, if they already have these gadgets, like the XBox console, then one gift could be any game that can be played that is compatible with the XBox. I also saw this commercial about the new xbox kinect. Have you heard of this? So what is the difference with Kinect games? Well, Kinect games give you the freedom to jump, duck, and spin your way through a unique adventure without holding a remote. It sounds fun, doesn't it? I read that it wtill be one of the most sought after gifts this holiday season. I have the feeling that a lot of parents will be lining up outside the stores just to get their hands on this game. Will you be one of them? I know I wont!

Do I Hear Bells?

I was in the mall this weekend and I heard a familiar sound. Bells. Not just any bells, it's the ringing bells of the Salvation Army kettle person (is that what you call them?). Hey, I'm not done with Halloween yet! What is going on? I've seen Christmas decorations and christmas gift boxes being sold in a store a week or so ago. This is getting ridiculuous, isn't it? If I remember correctly, after Halloween comes Thanksgiving THEN Christmas. Retailers are trying to cash in but is anyone buying? Not me, for sure. I want to enjoy Autumn first and not to mention, the roast turkey, graving and stuffing before I start thinking of the Christmas holidays. HO HO HO

Making Their Lists

My son, he's 5, has already made his Christmas wish list. Every year, we make a list of things we want for Christmas. It's been like this with dh's family; they ask for the list every year. It makes it easier for every one, no more guess work and unwanted gifts. So when I was in Manila for my dad's interment, I was using Skype to chat with dh and the kids, when T showed me this piece of paper. Then he said that he already made his Christmas wish list. I'm glad that there aren't a lot of things in there. I told them that this Christmas, they can only have 2 things from mommy and daddy. He's fine with that since he knows he's also getting gifts from his grandparents and uncles. My daughter, who's not a kid but not yet a teen, is still deciding on what she wants. When she learned that the new ipods has a built-in radio, she said that this might be her Christmas gift from us. I'm still thinking about that since her Zune (a Microsoft MP3 player) is still working great. We'll see what dh and decide. I am planning to start making my Christmas shopping lists very soon. I hope dh doesn't have work the day after Thanksgiving so I can shop for deals. Have you started your Christmas gift shopping?

Christmas Happenings

This past couple of weeks had been a busy and hectic time of the month for me and I'm sure for a lot of you out there. I had to host two Christmas dinners in my home, one for my in-laws on Christmas eve and one for a friend and her husband for Christmas day dinner. Then the day after Christmas, we had a surprise 70th birthday party for my mother-in-law at an Italian restaurant. The day after that, Saturday, my good friends Lanie, Mira and I had our annual Christmas party with our friends and family. I'm sharing some photos from our celebration.
I haven't been doing much blogging lately. The kids are on vacation and I'm spending a lot of time with them, trying to keep them from getting bored. Dh also had a week off from work which was nice. For New Year's Eve, we always prefer to spend it at home, in the comfort of our living room and our PJs. :o)
I hope this coming year will be a good one for everybody. I'm wishing you a Happy New Year!

Christmas - A Busy Time of Year

Do you agree that the holidays are the busiest time of year? I guess it is for Christans like me. It starts right after Halloween. I had to plan and prepare for Thanksgiving dinner then it goes uphill from there. This year, I have a task added to my already busy schedule. My MIL asked me to buy the gifts for the kids, dh and I, she also asked dh's brothers to do it for their families too. Now, is it just me that think this is unusual? Don't get me wrong, my MIL is very nice and sweet. I just feel that after she reached 65 years of age, she started feeling old and stopped doing a lot of things. :o( Anyhoo, I don't mind doing it. What's 20 more things right? LOL

I want to share some photos from the day we picked our Christmas tree. It was also the first snowfall of the year so the kids were excited. As soon as they got out of the car, they started a snowball fight which lasted the whole time. This tree place is very near our house so it is convenient. We've been going here since my daughter was 2 years old. The owner looks like Santa with his white beard. The kids enjoy the hayride and looking for the perfect tree.

I am ALMOST finished with "decking the halls". LOL It took me a couple of days to finally get the tree 'right'. I don't know why but my inner Martha Stewart comes out during Christmas. LOL I only have two more things to hang and I THINK I am done. How about you? Are you finished with your decorations?
