Busy as a Bee

I need at least 5 extra hours in a day during this Christmas season. Really! I'm sure other moms out there feel the same way. Aside from maintaining the household and paying bills and searching online for cheap auto insurance companies (since the rates here in the state where I live is horrendous!), there are the kids' school and extra-curricular activities too! I'm still not finished with my Christmas shopping. ugh... Breathe.. That's what I need to do right now. I'm sure I'll get everything done sooner or later. Well, I hope it's sooner, don't you?

Black Friday Sale

Have you RSVP'd to this event yet? *grin* Hmm, I do not know yet if I will be one of the crazy many to go out that day. Standing in line does not seem too appealing. I still have to make up a gift list for the family. It seems like it is getting harder to think of gifts for children the older they get, doesn't it? Then there is the Christmas stocking. I hope there are nice stocking stuffers for women this year. Getting a surprise gift is nice only if you like the gift but what if you don't care for it? You don't want to offend the giver so you just grin and smile and say 'thank you'. :)

A New Pair of Uggs for Her

Boy, her feet grows longer each day! I had to get her a new pair of boots this year. Her old boots, a classic Ugg does not fit anymore. At least, she was able to use it for two years. This new pair I got for her is the Bailey Triple Button in chocolate. I like this style, she can wear it folded like the photo or pulled up. The Ugg boots are very comfortable, you won't trip over stair rods or slip on icy sidewalks. I hope she gets to use it for a couple of years. Well, since we're almost the same shoe size, I'll be able to borrow it from her and she can borrow mine.

Shop Tomorrow!

Do you know that there are some stores tomorrow that is having a big sale just like the famous Black Friday sales? I heard it on the news. One of the stores is Target and other big stores too. I think Macy's is included. One store started it and when the other merchandisers heard about it, they joined the bandwagon. This is good news for us, consumers, isnt' it? I think I will be at Kohl's tomorrow, right after dropping the kids off to school. I am going to a party on Saturday night and I still don't have anything to wear!

Shopping Smartly

One thing I've learned from all my years of grocery shopping, is how to avoid falling into the so-called 'shopping traps'. For example, the product placement - grocers put the expensive items in the middle shelves, those that are eye-level so shoppers will see it first. The products that are cheaper and/or store brands are placed in hard-to-reach places, the top and the bottom. I also avoid buying products that are on those point of purchase displays, those cardboard displays that are usually placed in front of the shelves or in the middle of the aisle. I stopped shopping in one grocery just because they have too many of these displays in the aisles, and navigating through all these with the shopping cart is next to impossible! I prefer groceries that have wide aisles and lots of lights. Am I the only one with these preferences, I don't think so. Dh also prefers it this way.

Shopping and Kids

Among my two kids, it is my son that likes to go shopping with me. I don't know if it has something to do with his age or the fact that he likes to look at the toys and hopes he gets to bring it home with us. I always remind him before we go out that the toy needs to be inexpensive and he can only choose one. What happens when he sees another toy that he wants? That's where my bartering skills come into play. I either make him choose or I use a favorite toy against this new one. It almost always work and I think he is starting to learn that he cannot get every toy that he sets his sights on. He either have to work for it or wait until Christmas or his birthday and hope that it will be in one of the presents.

When it comes to shopping malls, the Philippines cannot be beat. If there is one thing I miss from that country, it is the malls. If you haven't been to a mall in the Philippines, then you are missing something. It always amazes me that there are new malls everytime I come back for a visit. What is even more amazing are the throngs of people inside, be it a weekday and more so during the weekend. The malls are huge that you can get almost anything you need, even the plasma mounts for your new flat-screen tv. I am surely going to miss shopping in Manila. It is always one of the things I look forward to everytime I go back for a visit.

Shopping for My Growing Kids

I've been saying all along that my kids are growing like weeds. You know what I mean, just like weeds that grow without fertizers, my kids outgrow their clothes so fast. I find myself shopping for good deals for quality children clothing. It can take up a lot of my time since I try to find nice yet inexpensive kids clothing. That is one of the reason why I prefer to shop online. I started doing this a couple of years ago. I shopped for cheap infant clothes when my daughter was born. There weren't a lot of online stores then. Nowadays, there are hundreds of stores to choose from. It can get tiring surfing the internet for good deals on children's clothing.

That is why websites like ShopWiki.com is very useful for online shoppers like me. For busy parents, this website is a goldmine. Instead of searching Google and go to individual girl or cheap boy clothing websites, all you need to do is go to ShopWiki.com and type in what you are searching for. You will see all the photo, description and current prices of the items you are interested in. This will save time from your online shopping experience. You don't have to worry about the search being limited to paying advertisers, which is the case on other shopping sites. At ShopWiki.com, you will get ALL the search results available whether they get income from it or not.

I love the price slider feature which narrows down your search, pretty cool. The one thing that I really like about this website are the helpful information on whatever it is you are looking for. It has infant and toddler clothing buying guides which is really useful for first time parents. It has a lot of helpful tips on choosing the right size and fit for your child. You can also use ShopWiki.com for searching other items like popular childrens books like the Junie B. series and more. Start shopping now and see what I am talking about.

Shopping for Growing Kids

Do you find that the clothes you bought your kids a couple of months ago does not fit anymore? I tell you, my kids are growing like weeds. The capri pants that my daughter wore just once last summer does not fit her anymore. Her jeans are shorter, same with my son. In a way I'm glad that they're going to be taller than I am since the average height for women in the US is more than 5'4". I'm way below that number. My daughter will be reaching 5' soon enough. That's why when I shop for pants, I try to get the next size over even though it's a little bit loose. Most pants nowadays have adjustable waists. That way I save money in the long run. I also look online for a Sale and coupons for some amount off or even free shipping. I usually find good deals at buy.com and some other similar sites. If you're not familiar with buy.com, you can view their video advertisements at YouTube. They have Howie Mandel as their spokesperson and he delivers funny videos. So back to my kids, their old clothes goes to the kids of my friends so it doesn't go to waste. In fact, my good friend Lanie gave me some of her son's old clothes. Do you recycle your kids' old clothes or do you donate it to a charity organization?

Shopping for Children

Life definitely changed when I had children. Nowadays, when I go shopping, I tend to buy things for my kids first. It's amazing at how expensive children's clothes and shoes are. A pair of shoes can be as expensive as those for adults. Of course, there are products that are inexpensive but would you rather buy something cheap and have it fall apart after a couple of months or get something that is worth its' price? That's why I always shop around for the best price and shopping online is very convenient for me. In fact, I was able to get a pair of Ugg boots for my daughter for only $75 and the shipping is free.

I've been buying things online even before my daughter was born. I prefer it this way since it is easier to compare prices. I've bought clothes, furnitures, children's books, appliances and what not. You can also buy text books online and if you prefer used text books, there is a website for that too. One thing to consider when shopping online is the price of shipping and handling. If the seller is out of state, usually you don't have to pay tax so the shipping and handling balances it out. For the convenience though, online shopping cannot be beat. Do you prefer to shop online or do it the traditional way?
